Make It Pop

Happy Saturday, everyone!

Today, I bring you a fashion experiment - me playing around with bright and neon colors.  I like the colors together, and that it's a twist on mixing primary colors - which is a favorite combo of mine.

Blouse:  Target Petites (Available here)
Pants:  The Limited (Available here)
I've never been a huge fan of throwing on different colors for the sake of it.  As much as I like colorblocking, the trend was way overdone for my taste and I haven't been a huge fan of much of the color mixing looks I've seen.
Necklace:  The Limited (Available here)
Shoes:  Target (Available here)
Bracelet:  Target (old)
I'm on the fence about whether I would actually wear this out.  I like it better than I thought I would, but I still prefer a look that incorporates neutrals more.
What do you think?  Would you wear a colorful look like this?

Candy Stripes

Happy Friday, everyone!!

Today's casual Friday look has a slight naval flair thanks to the military-inspired knit jacket and nautical striped scarf.
Jeans:  The Limited (Available here)
Jacket:  Forenza by The Limited (old)
I'm not crazy about the heels with this outfit.  I would have preferred shoes that were more causal, but outside of boots, I didn't have any casual shoes that worked with the length of these pants.
Blouse:  The Limited (Similar here)
Scarf:  The Limited
I got this shirt hemmed since the last time I wore it (see here). I think it is much more flattering now; small changes can make SO much difference!  I prefer my tops with slightly longer hem lengths, but it can be hard to find the right balance between preference for a longer length and being too long.  Shirts that are too long can make petite girls look super short as they give the appearance of the leg being cut off.
Purse:  The Limited (Similar here)
Shoes:  Target (old)
Do you alter your clothing?  What are some of the ways in which you get your clothes altered?

Blank Canvas

For today's look, I treated this taupe dress as a blank canvas and had fun adding color with the blazer and bold accessories.

Taupe dress:  Target Petites (old)
Blazer:  New York & Company (Available in coral and black here)
This is my favorite way to wear color.  Accessories add plenty of flash and interest, but the neutral dress keeps the look from being too over the top for my personal aesthetic.
Bubble necklace:  ILY Couture (Available here)
Necklace (worn as bracelet):  The Limited (Available here)
Shoes:  Target (Available here)
Belt:  The Limited (Similar here)
I bought this dress on clearance a couple years ago.  I really liked it, but it was a size too big.  I am thinking about getting it taking in and having the hem taken up so that I have an option to wear it without a belt.  I really do believe proper fit makes a huge difference in how flattering one's clothes are.

Feminine Suiting

Whenever I think I've dressed a little too casually for work (see yesterday's outfit), I often purposefully choose something more formal to wear the next day.
Pants:  The Limited (old)
Blouse:  The Limited (old)
(Similar here and here)
Today, I chose my black high-waisted pants and paired them with a polkadot bow-front blouse.
Blazer:  The Limited (Similar here)
Belt:  The Limited
I love the retro vibe of the look. It's classic, but in an interesting way as it has a 1940s vibe.
I paired the outfit with a peplum blazer for work since it was chilly today.
Earrings: The Limited (Available here)
Purse:  The Limited (old)
Today's look isn't too different than one I previously posted (see here).  I had originally planned on wearing a red blazer, but I just felt like this one worked better.
Shoes:  Target (old)
Sometimes it can easy to get stuck in certain outfit pairings, but if it ain't broke, why fix it, right?

Blue & Neutrals

For work today, I paired my blue skinnies with a printed tank and black blazer.
Pants:  The Limited (Available here)
Top:  Forever 21+ (Available here)
Blazer: The Limited (Similar here)
I originally tried this outfit with a white blazer and grey heels for a softer, more spring-y look.
Blazer:  The Limited
The hemline of this top is longer in the front, and the top has a tulip hem in the back.  I like the idea of the longer black blazer for work as the fit of the blazer conceals more of the top and dresses the look up a bit.
Bracelet: The Limited (old)
Heels:  Target (old)
Heels:  Target (Available here)
Purse:  The Limited
Both looks are a little more casual than I usually prefer to wear to work, but I dig the relaxed, slightly rock-n-roll vibe of the white blazer look.
Purse:  Target (Available here)
Earrings:  Target
Which look do you prefer?

Hope you all had a great day!!!

Keep or Return?

Dress:  Torrid (Available here)
Clutch:  The Limited
I bought this dress at Torrid not too long ago, but I'm pretty sure that I am going to return it.
Necklace:  Target (No longer available on-line; see here)
Shoes:  Target (Available in other colors here)
I love the retro shape of it, but I'm not sure I'm in totally in love with this floral print.  I'm also not sure the strapless fit works for me in this particular dress.  If I keep it, I would get it hemmed an inch or two to fit right above or at the knee rather than below the knee.
Bracelets:  Express; Target

I had fun taking pics in this dress, but I just don't see it as being a mainstay in my wardrobe.

What do you think - keep or return?

Pop of Coral

Happy Monday!!
Blazer:  The Limited (Available here)
Blouse:  Target Petites (Available here)

Today, I paired some neutral work pieces with this bright coral-y top, which is quickly becoming a closet favorite.

I paired my work look with my new wedge sandals.  The weather was pretty chilly today, but the sandals made me feel like it actually was spring.
Pants:  The Limited (Available here)
Shoes:  Target (Available here)
Ring:  The Limited (old)
Necklace:  Torrid (Available here)

I took pics last night, using the orange-trimmed clutch and wearing the red ring.  In the house, the colors seemed to matched, but after looking at the pictures, I didn't really care for the combination.

For work today, I traded the ring for a black cord/gold bracelet and a black and ivory clutch.  I preferred the end result of this look.
Bracelet:  Torrid (Sold out on-line; Available in stores)
Purse:  The Limited (old)
Clutch:  The Limited (Available here)
