Undies for the Animals!!!

Recently, I was approached by Switch:  Liberate your Brand about helping out with their fundraising efforts for the Animal Protective Association (APA) of Missouri.  As an animal rights advocate, I jumped at the opportunity to assist.

I became a vegetarian 20 years ago after learning about the process of factory farming.  Through the years, I've also become concerned with the plight of animals in other ways as well.  Pet companionship can be amazing.  Unfortunately, the dark side of pet companionship is the huge number of unwanted, sometimes abused, animals who end up in shelters every year.  As most of you are probably aware, these animals are often euthanized due to the inability of shelters to house the animals.

That's where the APA comes into help.  The APA is a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing people and animals together, advancing humane education, and creating programs beneficial to the human-animal bond.  With community support, the APA is able to provide so many wonderful services, including:

  • shelter and care for homeless dogs and cats
  • adoption services
  • veterinary clinic
  • lost and found assistance
  • education and outreach
Providing all of these resources and services cost a lot of money, and that's why fundraisers like Switch's Ugly Holiday Sweater TEASE are so badly needed.  For the third holiday season, Switch has created a line-up of t-shirts designed to look like ugly holiday sweaters.  This year, they're also "teas"ing with matching men's boxers and women's briefs.

I normally don't like the idea of using my blog to directly advertise products, but these skivvies are super cute, and more importantly, all profits from sales benefit the APA of Missouri.

The t-shirts and coordinating boxers and briefs come in three fun designs:

"Santa Surveillance" - He sees you when you're sleeping!!

Building a Casual Wardrobe

Hope you're all having a great week!
Jeans:  Torrid (Available here)
T-shirt:  Torrid (Available here)
Today's look pairs my Torrid stiletto skinnies with a comfy tee and cropped blazer.  I wore this outfit last Sunday to run a few errands.
Bracelet:  The Limited
Sandals:  Payless
Clutch:  The Limited

The low-heeled sandals kept the look comfortable and gave the outfit a feminine charm.
Earrings:  The Limited
I love that the back of this jacket has interesting detail, giving this simple look a cooler vibe.
Jacket:  Torrid (Available here)

Building a casual wardrobe has been a difficult process for me.  My personal aesthetic tends towards evening looks and more polished pieces.  When I get home after a long day of work, I often reach for sweats and grubby tees.  Being so petite, most of my jeans require heels, which doesn't work well for running around with the kids or other casual events.  I've been working on building a stylish casual wardrobe that tows the line between my ultra-casual lounge wear and my work and evening wardrobe.

I think this outfit does just that.

What do you like to wear for casual wear?
