Happy Cinco De Mayo!!!

Today, as is a normal Sunday ritual, the family and I went out to one of our favorite Mexican restaurant.  Seriously, I could eat Mexican food virtually everyday and be extremely happy.  With it being Cinco de Mayo, the place was hoppin', service was great, and the food was delicious.
Dress:  Forever 21+ (Sold out on-line; May be available in stores)
When getting ready, I wasn't feeling very well, and I just wanted to wear something comfortable.  I chose a jersey maxi dress and my blue moto jacket, which has become my new fashion obsession.
Jacket:  Forenza by The Limited (Available here)
Purse:  Target (Available here)
I paired the look with studded flats and a make-up free face save the red lipstick (I really wish I could find the right shade of red).  Since I was feeling a little blah, I wanted a little added color for my face, but seriously, how does one find the right shade of red lipstick for their skin tone?  Every time I think I've found it, I put it on and realize that it wasn't the right choice.

Thankfully, dinner made me feel much better - think my blood sugar was just off some.

Shoes:  Target (Available here)
Bracelets:  Express, Claire's Zoppini (old)
Hope you all had a wonderful day and a fabulous weekend!!!

Cutouts and Coated Denim

Hi everyone!

Today, I ran to Tar-Jay to do some last minute Easter shopping and this is what I wore:

Sweater:  Forever 21+ (Available here)
I recently got this sweater from Forever 21.  I love the cutouts and the seafoam green color.

I love wearing oversized sweaters with skinny pants for a casual look.

Coated denim jeans:  Target (Available here)

Necklace:  ILY Couture (Available here)
I wore the leopard flats to the store. The man and I were thinking about going to the movies.  We opted not to go, but I probably would have worn the heels for the date.
Flats:  Target (Similar here)
Heels:  Target (old)
Rings:  New York & Company
What's your go-to errands outfit?

Happy Easter to all those who celebrate!!

Hello Kitty

Happy Sunday!
Cardigan:  The Limited (Similar here)
Tee:  Torrid (Available here)
Coated denim jeans:  Target (Available here)

A few weeks ago, we had a birthday party for my youngest kiddo who was turning five.  The theme of her party was Hello Kitty.

I've loved Hello Kitty ever since I was a kid, so I have a few Hello Kitty tees that I sometimes wear when I'm going super casual.

Since my daughter's party was Hello Kitty-themed, it seemed like the purrr-fect (sorry, couldn't resist) time to wear my fun Kitty with glasses tee.  Girls with glasses are very cool!  ;-D

Clutch:  The Limited (Available here)
Shoes:  Target (Available here)
Bracelet:  Gift (old)
I paired the tee with my coated denim and a colorblocked cardigan to give the overall look a little more of a grown-up feel.

Do you ever wear novelty or character tops?

I See London...

Today's casual look centered around this comfy sweater.
Sweater:  Forever 21+ (Sold out on-line; may be available in stores)
Coated denim jeans:  Target (Available here)
I added coated denim skinnies and these amazing spiked ballet flats I just found.
Flats:  Target (Available here)
I love getting the comfort of flats with a touch of bad ass. ;-)

I went for dinner later in the day and decided to swap the flats for heels to dress the look up a bit.

Satchel:  Target (Available in blue here)
Heels:  Target (old)
Hope you're all having a great Saturday!!

Feelin' Lacy

Happy Friday everyone!!!

Today, I wore this great ivory lace top with faux leather Peter Pan collar for a sweet leather and lace look.

Pants:  The Limited (Available here)
Lace blouse:  Forever 21+ (Available here)
Clutch:  Target (Available in stores)
Lace can definitely be acceptable at work, but it's important to make sure that you aren't exposing anything. A full coverage tank is a must, and bra straps must be covered.

I wore the ballet flats to work for comfort, but these bow heels would be great for after-dinner drinks or a girls-night-out.
Cardigan:  LOFT Petites (Similar here)
Tank:  Old Navy Petites (Similar here)
Ballet flats:  Target
Shoes: eBay (Available here)
Bracelets:   Target (old)
Moonstone earrings:  Purchased at local jewelry show
Would you wear lace to work?

Sunday Lovin'

Happy Sunday, everyone!

Today, I went for a casual family brunch and this is what I wore:

Corduroy pants:  The Limited (Similar here)
Sweater:  Target (Similar here)
Tank:  Gap Petites (Available here)
Shoes:  Target
I don't usually wear so much color together, but it's fun on occasion.  The casual vibe of the outfit and black accessories help offset the sweetness of the sweater and the color palette.

Purse:  The Limited (old)

Hope you have all had a relaxing Sunday Funday!

Comfy Colorblocking

Happy Friday, everyone!!!

Today, I paired my ivory colorblocked blouse with black pants and a purple blazer for a comfortable Friday work look.

Blouse:  New York & Company (Available here)
Pants:  The Limited (Available here)
Blazer: The Limited (Similar here)
Flats:  Target
While I like today's look, this look is an example of how the wrong fit or proportion can throw off an otherwise great outfit.  This blouse is too long.  I do like slightly longer, tunic-length tops, but they look best on shorter gals when worn with heels to help elongate the leg.

With flats, the blouse has the effect of creating a long torso and proportionately too short legs.  I will be taking this one to the tailor to get the right length.

Purse:  The Limited (Sold out on-line; may be available in stores)
Necklace:  The Limited
Alligator ring:  Target

Hearts Afire!

One of my favorite color combinations is the classic black, white, and red.
Blouse:  New York & Company
Blazer:  The Limited
This sweet heart-printed blouse and heart-shaped locket is a romantic take on a casual work look.

I like that the white jacket makes the red pop and keeps the color bright near my face.  The darker bottoms help balance the look and keep the jacket from looking summery.
Pants:  The Limited (Available here)
Shoes:  Target
I am not a huge fan of prints as I get bored with them easily, and they are sometimes less versatile than solids.  I love heart prints though and like that this top is super feminine but not too girly.
Clutch: Vintage
Earrings:  The Limited (Sold out online, see here) and Claire's
Silver Locket:  Target (Similar here)
Tank:  Old Navy (Similar here)
 Do you like heart prints?

Velvet Ingenue

Happy Tuesday!!!
Cardigan:  LOFT (Available here)
Pants:  The Limited (Available here
)
Today, I wanted a comfortable outfit because I had errands to run after work.  I also wanted a slightly festive look since it was my last day at work before the Thanksgiving holiday.
Tank:  Target
Flats:  Target
I chose my black velvet pants and this pretty embellished cardigan.  I paired the outfit with flats to keep the look more comfortable, which also makes the outfit more casual, in my opinion.

If I were to wear this outfit to a holiday party, I would add more sparkly jewelry, a pair of heels, and a fun clutch.
Purse:  New York & Company (Similar here)
The ballet flats and faux-Peter Pan collar add sweet touches that give this look a slight ingenue quality.
Bow Ring:  The Limited (Available here)
If you are interested in this cardigan, I would suggest going down a size or two.  I personally found this cardigan to run large.  I went down a size, and I still think it was a bit too big.Hope you all had a great day!!

Hey there, babydoll!

Happy Friday, everyone!
Blouse:  LOFT (Available here)
Pants:  The Limited (Available here)
I've been sick all week, and this morning, I felt very fatigued. I wanted a comfortable outfit for work that would help get me through the day.

Flats:  Target (Still available in select stores)
Cardigan:  Converse One Star by Target (Available here)
I don't opt for flats as often as I should (we all know how bad heels are for us, right?), but I was so excited to wear my new green ballet flats, which I got for a steal for $6 at Target.  I had eyed them late this summer, but passed them up.  When I saw them again on clearance, I knew I had to have them.  They are my favorite shade of green.

Paired with black slim-cut pants, I feel a little Parisian.  The ivory baby-doll top is a little voluminous, but the cardigan helps temper some of the volume.  I love the tie-back neckline of the blouse.
Ring:  H&M
Earrings:  The Limited
Fun accessories, like my purse necklace and "evil eye" ring finish the look.
Necklace:  Vintage Judith Leiber (Similar here)
Hope you all had a great day!  Happy Weekend!

Purse:  Express (Available here)

Vroom! Vroom!

Happy Saturday, everyone!
Bag:  The Limited
Jeans:  Target
(Available here)
Today, I went out for a casual dinner with the kiddos and man, and this is what I wore.

I love the oversized fit of this sweater and the fun car print.  Leopard print flats and the camel messenger bag complement the casual look.

I'm obsessed with these coated denim jeans for their comfort and versatility!
Sweater:  Forenza by The Limited (Available here)

Color me comfy!

As much as I love clothes, by Wednesday, I often fight the urge to roll into work in my jammies.  Today was one of those days.  I like to plan my outfit for the next day before I go to bed, but I didn't do that last night.  This morning, I had no clue what I wanted to wear other than I wanted something comfortable and easy.

I came up with this colorful look.  Probably the biggest trend this year has been colorblocking.  It's an easy trend, one that many people were probably already doing.  I'm not afraid of color, but I definitely tend to steer towards neutrals.  Today's look was a bit uncharacteristic for me.  I paired the teal dress with a citron and beige sweater, colors I normally wouldn't pair.  To avoid looking like an Easter egg and to tie in the beige from the sweater, I added neutral leopard flats, a camel bag, and black and gold bangles.

Cardigan:  The Limited
Being only 4'9" and fuller figured, I often feel a little stumpy or dowdy in flats.   Flats work here though because the shorter hemline of the dress helps lengthen the leg without the need for heels.  If you can't or don't wear heels, look for maxi dresses or dresses that hit above the knee for the most flattering visual effect.

Bag:  The Limited

By the end of the day, I was comfortable but still on the fence about whether these pieces worked together.  What do you think?  Is this look a hit or a miss?

P.S.  I apologize for the quality of today's photos.  An after work dentist appointment forced a rushed and indoor photo session.  :-(
